Adviento en la Montaña (Adventa) by Gunnar Gunnarsson was published 70 years ago.He is one of the greatest contemporary authors in Icelandic literature and was nominated for the Nobel Price in different years.
This short story takes us to the cold winter in Iceland and immerses us in a poetic space full of nuances and symbolism, very rich in the descriptions of nature. It invites the reader to personal reflection and thought with an atmosphere of balance and peace.
The poet Mathias Johannenssen stated that the constant leitmotiv in Gunnarsson's work is the human existence. He described the work as: " accepting responsibility, searching the truth and the essence of life, defiantly trying to understand the place of the human being in the world".
